Even after 26 years of demise of Shanker Nag, the birth anniversary of multi talented personality is celebrated with the un-diminishing respect.


On November 9 at Vijayanagar felicitation of action director Ravi Verma, book release of Ganesh Kasargod’s ‘Nenapinangaladalli Shanker Nag’ (revised edition) and aid two auto drivers was even held in the presence of best friend of Shanker Nag – Ramesh Bhat, Om Saiprakash, Dr V Nagendra Prasad, AP Arjun, Arun Gowda, Auto Raaja, JG Krishna, Ganesh Kasargod, Dini Cini Creations, Shanker Nag Janmotsava Trust and others.


‘Auto Raaja’ award was given to action director of fame Ravi Verma, two auto drivers were honored for honesty in their professional life. Two children from a nearby school cut the cake to mark the birth anniversary.


Ramesh Bhat the proud actor and gentleman of Kannada cinema recalling his association with Shanker Nag stated that Shanker never used to celebrate his birthday. The human values and moralities in him were great. According to me after Dr Rajakumar it is only Shanker Nag who had such lovely qualities. He was simple with a few hand kerchief to wipe his nose, books in his bag to keep on reading in all free time.


Ramesh Bhat on this occasion urged the authorities and Karnataka government to keep the terminal for Metro the name of Shanker Nag. It was Shanker who traveled and submitted ‘Metro’ plan and no one else mentioned Bhat. He wanted hospital for every fifty kilometers, bricks at cost of forty paisa etc. According to Bhat in every locality there should be one like Shanker Nag. His advice is never sleep too much. In the break time he used to take only ten minutes for food. Ramesh Bhat was very eloquent in his speech on Shanker Nag qualities.
